IBF Womens Welterweight World Championship

In a true welterweight battle Daniella Smith beat the Berliner Jennifer Retzke with a unanimous points decision to win the vacant IBF welterweight world championship for women. Right from the first round both fighters competed foot to foot in a fight of the highest level. Although Retzke lost the battle, she promises a direct rematch in New Zealand. Smith has now fought in 11 professional bouts and only lost one at the beginning of her career. She returns to New Zealand on Monday November 15, where she will look at options and offers for future fights. Read the full story
